Urusei Yatsura is based on a manga series by Rumiko Takahashi. The classic manga was serialised in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 1978 to 1987. Animerica in North America published the manga in English.
Urusei Yatsura (2022 TV anime) is the second remake of this TV anime series after the 1981 adaptation by Kitty Films. The series ran for five years and ended in 1986.
The 2022 adaptation is an All-Star series adapting only the original plot in 46 episodes. The series is airing on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block.
The series centres around Ataru Moriboshi and the alien girl Lum. Aliens from Lum’s planet named Oni came to Earth. They came to invade the earth by winning in a game.

Unlucky high schooler Ataru Moroboshi was selected to represent Earth. He has to win a game of tag against the alien planet’s Princess Lum. In ten days, Ataru has to touch Lum’s horn.
Ataru accidentally won the game when he had no chance to win. A misunderstanding ensues when Ataru motivates himself after a promise of marriage to his childhood friend Shinobu Miyake. Lum thought Ataru proposed to her after winning the game.
Then Lum decided to move into Ataru’s house. Poor Ataru tries to reconcile with Shinobu, but he cannot get rid of clingy Lum. The series contains their daily happenings, full of comic events, puns and all.
What happened at the end of Urusei Yatsura Season 2?

Season 2 starts with the adventures of episodic comedies. Ataru steals Ten’s gum. The gum can create anything depending on what the user is imagining. He uses a clone of him to get away from Lum.

In the next segment, Ataru and Ten engage in a fight during dinner. Ataru somehow strikes Lum with a pressure cooker in the head. Later, Lum lost her memories and started speaking in her native language.
At home, Ten informs Lum may not return. Atrau ignores it at first but worries a bit later. She didn’t return for a whole week, making Ataru anxious.
At the end of the episode, Ataru finds Lum in his room. He apologises to Lum while she still doesn’t recover. Lum gave him an electronic translator. Now that he could understand her, he complained about it being uncomfortable and unattractive.
The next episode focuses on Ryuunosuke. Up until now, we saw her living with her father. After watching Ataru’s mother’s affection, she wanted to know about her mother.

Ryuunosuke, with her friends, tries to find out about her mother in a photo album while her father is reluctant to reveal anything. However, the result was quite funny and emotional.
In the next episode, Onsen-mark makes home visit interviews with everyone in the cast. It started with the Fujinami family. However, it ends with him getting beaten by Ryuunosuke and her father.
In the latest episode, Kurama visits the earth to find love once again. This time, she orders her birds to bring her match, who is Ran’s crush Rei. Meanwhile, Ran threatens Lum to help her by injecting awful childhood memories. The next segment starts with Mendo’s arranged marriage.

David Production Animated Studio (the same studio as Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure, Undead Unluck) is making the Urusei Yatsura reboot series. Fuji Television’s Noitamina is airing the series in 2022.
