Spanian’s real name is Anthony Lees. He got the name Spanian in the boys home where one of them reportedly asked him what was his “Nato” and Anthony replied “Spain”. That’s how he was called Spanian and there was no turning back.
Spanian recollects the fact that no one except the cops call him by his real name. Once the 16 year old Spanian was waiting in the McDonald’s line with his girlfriend and suddenly someone called him by the name Anthony and that is when he knew they were cops!

Spanian’s criminal path was directly linked to his disoriented family. When Spanian was just 12 years old he had his first criminal record and from then on started his decade long streak of violence and criminal offenses from drug dealing, stealing, stabbing and involvement with gangs and the underworld.
He was slapped with the “E” jail classification which meant he could never get privileges behind the bars no matter how good his behavior was. The reason why he got such a bad classification was due to the fact that he had tried to escape prison.
