Without a second thought, Joel immediately breaks into the operation theatre and rescues Ellie while killing Marlene, who tries to explain the consequences of what he is doing. In the end, Ellie wakes in the back of a car and asks Joel about what happened to which he lies to her that they found other immune people but weren’t able to make the vaccine.
