Its been three years since Hunter Awtrey passed away. The family of Hunter Thomas Awtrey is still grieving the loss of their beloved Hunter, who died suddenly and unexpectedly on July 5, 2020, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington as a result of serious injuries from a fall.
He was born on August 19, 1998 to Chris and Lindsey Awtrey, now Lindsey Miller, who grew up in Siler City and Archdale. Hunter participated actively in sports, particularly baseball, basketball, and football, while in school and through youth leagues.
In 2016, he graduated from Trinity High School; he was in his final year as a senior University of North Carolina-Charlotte, where he pursued business studies and finance; the institution plans to award him his degree posthumously.
Among his many roles at Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity were vice-president recruitment for the Interfraternity Council (IFC) and social chairman. Not only did this deceased loved hunting deer, but they also went fishing, played golf, snowboarding, and went riding on dirt bikes.
His close-knit family always came first before anything else; hence, they had much quality time together with him. He had received tremendous accolades for being such a hardworking person with a great nature who always looked up things in life even though he was very sociable.

Hunter Awtrey had an exceptional character, a strong work ethic, and an optimistic attitude. Born in 1998, he grew up in a family that valued learning and outdoor activities.

He has left behind his mother Lindsey Miller (T. R.) of Trinity, Father Chris Awtrey (Leanna) of Siler City, brother Jace Awtrey, stepbrothers Caleb Alcorn and Tyler Miller, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and his girlfriend for 5 years Maggie Monroe.
On July 5, 2020, however, he died of severe injuries from falling down at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. Nevertheless, his family fulfilled his wish of donating his organs for transplantations; thus, he saved many lives through this act of selflessness.

He was also the Social Chairman of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. Before his demise, his hard work paid off with him being elected Vice-President of Recruitment for the school’s Interfraternity Council.

2020 marked five years since Hunter and Maggie had started dating; however, they were torn apart by death that year. Even now, Maggie cannot cope with the memories of her boyfriend’s death.
Two years later, on July 5, she posted her stunning photo with her lover Hunter on his second death anniversary in 2022. Hunter held her when she needed protection, and she will keep loving him forever, she captioned the image.
She has kept every photograph of herself and Hunter together, though he has been dead for two years. Many people who adore her have appreciated Maggie Monroe’s reluctance to delete these pictures involving the two. Maggie Monroe is currently finishing up a degree at UNC Charlotte.
