Funny Woman Season 2 Storyline: What Would It Be Able to Be About?
The plot of Funny Woman revolves around a beautiful woman wanting the position of the biggest sitcom star. In this 6 episode show, Barbara Parker (played by Gemma Arterton) is a breathtaking beauty who wins the title of Miss Blackpool Belle 1964.
However, Barbara feels that she is made for something bigger, so to find fame and live a better life, she leaves her dad and leaves loved ones behind to make a name for herself in London. Gemma says that even though Barbara is a little clueless about how things around her work, she is still ambitious about her dreams.
Gemma also compliments Barbara by saying that while she might not know a whole lot about London, she has a sense of humour that can still come in handy. Even though Barbara is very passionate about her dream of becoming famous, she has to work in a local store.
Things only get worse from here when Barbara gets sexist remarks for her looks after getting Brian Debenham (played by Rupert Everett) as her agent.
Sophie Straw is the new stage name Barabara has to work as now but Gemma says that America will not take Barabara seriously and they do not have any comedy queens in the United Kingdom for a while.
Barbara takes her own sweet time but she finally proves her sense of humour after she met Clive Richardson (played by Tom Bateman) and Dennis Mahindra (played by Asher Ali) during an audition for a sitcom.
Gemma explains that Barbara first thought that Clive Richardson was just a silly guy however he brings the best out of her and even Dennis Mahindra thinks that Barbara has a special talent in the field of comedy.
What Happened at the End of Funny Woman Season 1?
Instead of recapping the end of Funny Woman season 1, we will briefly go over the entire season to make sure we remember everything before the next season rolls out.
Barbara is a beautiful woman from Blackpool who aspires to be an actress in London. Misogyny made it difficult for Barbara to make a name for herself as everyone in the 1960s had a sexist mindset toward women.
However, Barbara made it her mission to push through all the barriers to use her sense of humour to enter a sitcom like Sophie Straw. Barbara eventually fell in love with Clive Richardson whom she met during her audition but broke up with him for good when she found out he was unfaithful.
Later she realized that Dennis Mahindra was the person who she should have been with all along.

What Might Happen in Season 2 of Funny Woman?
Funny Woman has become widely popular ever since it debuted in February 2023. The ending of the first season left the fans wanting more which is why everyone wanted Funny Woman to return with a second season.
Well after Funny Woman was renewed for a second season in August of 2023, the producer of the period drama revealed what the fans can expect from the returning season.
The producer revealed that Barabara made her dream become a reality in the first season by becoming a famous sitcom star as Sophie Straw.
However, in season 2, Barbara will discover dealing with fame is not easy and that having a voice does not mean that everyone will hear what you have to say.
Barbara gets frustrated and tries to be more progressive by being in an arthouse cinema. She started her very own comedy show to share amazing stories without glorifying them and keeping them as raw as possible so everyone can find them relatable.
Barbara has finally understood the power of her voice as Sophie Straw thinks she is unstoppable. But the question is, is she really unstoppable?

How Many Episodes of Funny Woman Season 2 Will Be There?
The first season of Funny Woman had a total of 6 episodes and the creators managed to use those 6 episodes pretty well to tell a meaningful story. Maybe season 2 of Funny Woman can have more than 6 episodes to flesh out the characters and plot even more.
A smaller number of episodes can harm the flow and pacing of the story since everything has to be compact. However, we think that the first season did a good job with 6 episodes so season 2 of Funny Woman can work with 6 episodes too!
