Fellow Travelers Storyline: What Would It Be Able to Be About?
Fellow Travelers takes place in Washington D.C. during the politically charged 1950s. Timothy Laughlin and Hawkins Fuller are two of the main characters in the story. Timothy is a devout catholic and has just graduated from Fordham University while Hawkins works for the state department as a profligate.
One day, at a cocktail party in Georgetown, they met by happenstance and immediately began having a passionate and non-traditional love affair that threatened to unravel their carefully constructed lives.
As McCarthyism descended upon America, Timothy and Hawkins were left with no choice but to tread lightly through a minefield of political subterfuge, betrayal of friends and lovers, and fear of discovery.
Their once comforting secret love was now under scrutiny and suspicion prompting them to face up to the hard facts of their life and the sacrifices required to keep it that way.
For instance, while deeply committed to his faith and his goals in public service as a career option for him, Timothy cannot find it within himself to fully embrace this relationship because he is afraid of being seen as an un-American communist.
On the other hand, Hawkins readily accepts his unconventional lifestyle along with its thrills such as forbidden love; however, his carelessness endangers both their lives.
At the height of Cold War tensions, Timothy and Hawkins’ relationship becomes affected by political games played by Senator Joseph McCarthy who goes to the heart of the United States Department.
As the situation becomes more complicated, they must decide between keeping their love for each other or giving it up in favor of their professional lives, characters, and safety.

What Happened at the End of Fellow Travelers Season 1?
Season one of Fellow Travelers concludes with a series of events that may pave the way for a second season. Timothy is confronted by Hawkins about his reckless behavior; he loves Hawkins but wants to keep his career safe.
