Captivating the King season two cannot be expected anytime soon as season one of the show is yet to complete its run. Season one started its air from January 31, 2024 and the finale episodes of 15 and 16 are fixed to air by March 2 and 3, 2024.

Storyline of Captivating the King: What is it able to be about?
The plot revolves around the throne and the drama that revolves around power. Jin Han (starring Jo Jung-Seok) is the Crowned Prince of the nation. And pledging his loyalty to his brother, King Lee Sun- Jin Han is held captive by the Qing dynasty.
Struggling between Qing and Ming Dynasty, he works his best to be part of the Qing Dynasty by getting along with the Prince of that clan. Jin Han is a skilled baduk player and he engages in competitions and friendly games with Prince Rui.
When Jin Han is released, he meets with a hostile environment at home, as the King perceives his loyalty as a form of betrayal. With people around the King pushing their personal opinions and agendas on the King, he feels lost and thinks wrongly of his brother, Jin Han.
Jin Han during his course of time in Joseon, chances upon Kang Hee-Soo who is a skilled and a talented baduk player. She has always looked upon Jin-han for his strategies and his game, and follows the same.
She has set a standard for herself where she plans to get married to a person who defeats her at a game of baduk. Myung-ha, who has been actively pursuing her from the start, fails to win the game, making her reject him countless times.
With the premise set up for the show, the plot thickens when Jin-han ascends the throne against multiple oppositions and when Hee-soo seeks revenge for reasons valid. With tensions, dramas, romance and betrayal on the plate, the drama picks up pace after fourth episode.
What happened at the end of Captivating the King Season 1?
Season one of Captivating the King will air its last episode on March 3, 2024. A total of 16 episodes have been fixed for season one of Captivating the King, with 12 episodes released so far.
Without providing major spoilers, here is the summary of the episode 11 & 12 that was released on February 17 and February 18, 2024.
Recap of episode 11-12: The princess swap issue was brought forward by Mong-woo herself infront of Lee In (Jin-Han) while he understands why it was done with consideration to Princess Jang-ryeong.
Lord Park tries all tricks to infiltrate Lee In’s mind with suspicion and doubts against Prince Moon-sung and Myung-ha. But Lee In beats him to it as he already knows the truth about the whole mess-up.
Lord Park gets shocked again when the Qing Dynasty states that they have had no issues with the Princess they escorted. Lee in then safely escorts the real Princess Jang-ryeong to a hiding place.
Lord Park somehow manipulates Mong-woo into thinking that The King Lee In considered Mong-woo to be a worthy sacrifice to secure his place on the throne. This disturbs her and when she returns home she gets followed by Hyun-bo’s men to nan her.
But Lee In and Sang-hwa’s group takes out Hyun-bo’s group and Lee in being Mong-woo to a private place to talk it out. He states that he never doubted her and always has trusted her, ending up asking for another chance with her as he is just a man in love with a woman.
He also clarifies that he may somehow end up hurting her in the future as well, because of the weight of his position and asks for her understanding and support. Mong-woo agrees to it and they embrace each other, while a lightning strikes a peach tree, which Lee In’s brother planted during his brother’s time of exile in Qing Dynasty.
Mong-woo on the other side advises the queen to make Prince Moon-sung as the crown prince to secure his place in the palace. The queen requests her father to make a plea for the same, but the cards are reversed when Kim Je-nam suggests that Lee In should adopt Prince Moon-sung instead as his son.
The adoption process follows through, and the queen passes away due to sickness and in peace after seeing her son in a secure place.
Lord Park and Lee In has a confrontational heated argument which is overheard by Mong-woo who misunderstands the original meaning behind it and somehow lets Dal-ha’s plan of killing Lee In workout by helping him.
Mong-woo calls Lee In to a private hideout, where Dal-ha is waiting to ambush him, but Mong-woo wavers in the final moment and doesn’t let Lee In enter the place. Lee In understands that some plan has been hatched to attack him.
