The typical season of America’s Next Top Model consists of 10-16 hopefuls and 9-16 episodes. Each week, one competitor is eliminated from the competition based on the judges’ evaluations of their overall appearance, their performance in the challenges, and their best photo from the week’s photo shoot. After the first or second elimination in the finals, participants receive makeovers, and halfway through the season, they go to an international destination.

After cycle 12, Banks dismissed Porizkova, leaving only Banks, Alexander, and Barker on the panel for cycle 13. Alexander left the panel in season 14 when André Leon Talley replaced him, but he stayed on as the show’s runway coach. Kelly Cutrone succeeded Talley in cycle 18.

Banks let longtime cast members go after the 18th cycle: Barker, Alexander, and picture shoot director Jay Manuel. In cycle 19, Rob Evans took over for Barker, and Johnny Wujek took over for Manuel. In cycle 21, Alexander replaced Evans on the panel. Banks was replaced by Rita Ora, Ashley Graham, Drew Elliott, and Law Roach for cycle 23, while Stacey McKenzie took over for Alexander as the runway coach. While the rest of the staff remained the same, Banks took over as the show’s primary judge and host for the 24th season, replacing Ora.

For the first 18 episodes, a special guest judge joined the regular panel every week. Bryanboy represented the public vote on the panel during the 19th and 20th cycles. Public voting during the twenty-first cycle consisted of a simple call-out presentation.
