The Sun family is a Chinese criminal family with a stronghold in Taipei, and is at the heart of The Brothers Sun. Charles and Bruce Sun were split up when they were small boys. Growing up in Taipei alongside his father who is known as the Big Sun, Charles developed into a murderous machine.
Bruce and his mother Eileen relocated to Los Angeles, where he pursued his medical education. Bruce was unaware of his family, and things got out of control when Charles went to Los Angeles to look for his mother and brother.
The only thing keeping Charles a top assassin in Taipei secret was his passion for baking. At his flat, he was ambushed by three assassins while attempting to master a cake recipe. After Charles killed all three of the assassins, his father came out of his hiding to check on his son.
Charles was quick to believe that Sleepy Chanâs men were the ones attacking him, but his father was less certain. If someone was interested in harming Charles, there were better possibilities, in his opinion, to murder him. He chastised his son for failing to keep one of his assassins alive long enough to discover the truth.
It was not long before they discovered the true reason for sending men to Charlesâ flat. The assailants were successful because they were aware that Big Sun was going to come from hiding if his kid was hurt. Big Sun fell to his sonâs arms, his body shot through by a bullet through the adjacent building.
He said his wifeâs name, Hsiao Han, before passing out. From an early age, Charles learned that his only duty was to defend his family, while he was aware that his father had asked him to look out for his mother as well as his brother.
Charlesâ assailants trailed him to Los Angeles, where they entered his motherâs modest home. Fortunately, nobody was home, and Charles dispatched the assassin. While Eileen (Hsiao Han) seemed happy to see her son, she was also conscious of the filth he had brought with him.

However, Big Sun wonât get off too lightly from Mama Sun. Assuming the role of a nurse, she modifies his medical record to ensure that he receives daily insulin shots, which will prevent him from moving or speaking. Farewell, country boy.
