One running joke throughout the series is that Smiling Friends Inc. is really bad at its job. She sends Pim and Charlie whose only task was making her unhappy son smile again. When he gets himself into hot water, Pim and Charlie must intervene to put him back on track.
However, it happens that she becomes a diva frog who cannot be pleased at all. Alan, another employee of Smiling Friends Inc., goes looking for his missing cheese bit. Although, through this search, he ends up in increasingly weird and dangerous places.
On the other hand, the son turns out to be a sociopath who delights in seeing others suffer. Their workers are mostly incompetent and actually worsen things for their clients. Nevertheless, there’s still a heart to this show; its employees have good intentions after all. The series is known for its twisted humor, peculiar characters as well as its willingness to take risks.
What Happened at the End of Smiling Friends Season 1?

He approaches Satan with a deal that if he makes him laugh, Satan will send him back to earth. Making various absurd and comical efforts, Charlie eventually makes Satan briefly smile achieving his aim of getting back on earth.
But upon being back on earth, Charlie comes to a stunning realization; he has always been dead without knowing it. His body lies frozen under the snow while his soul keeps going through several cycles of going back to hell and trying to make Satan laugh again.
