When Quarterback Season 2 Will Be Released
Quarterback’s executive producer and former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning disclosed on The Pat McAfee Show that the production of the show’s second season has already started. Although Netflix has not yet made an official announcement about its renewal, Manning confirmed that the green light has been given by the streaming platform.
Netflix viewers will have to wait until 2024 for the release of Quarterback’s second season, which is expected to debut during the summer. In line with the show’s inaugural season, which closely followed the three main quarterbacks throughout the entire NFL season from September to early February, it is presumed that the second season will maintain a similar production schedule and continue to chronicle the selected quarterbacks’ experiences throughout the entirety of the 2023 NFL season.
Given that the show is filmed throughout the entire NFL season, which is expected to end in February 2024, fans will need to exercise patience for the second season as there will likely be one year gap between seasons. If we were to speculate, it is highly probable that Quarterback Season 2 will debut in July 2024, coinciding with the NFL offseason once more. While there is a possibility that Netflix may attempt to release the season earlier, it is highly unlikely that it would be available before May 2024, at the very earliest.

Will Mahomes Make an Encore?
Unfortunately, Patrick Mahomes, the odds-on favorite of NFL betting sites to win the MVP award, will not be making a comeback for the second season of the show “Quarterback” on Netflix, much to the disappointment of the streaming platform. During an interview with Audacy’s 610 Sports Radio in Kansas City, Mahomes disclosed that he would not be participating in the upcoming season of the show.
The Chiefs have been receiving additional media coverage lately, thanks to Taylor Swift’s involvement with star tight end Travis Kelce. As a result, Netflix is undoubtedly disappointed that they won’t be able to feature Mahomes again in season 2. Some Chiefs fans believe the insane coverage given on Kelce’s romance with Taylor Swift has been the bane of the team’s woes this season.
What about Cousins and Mariota?
Netflix has not yet confirmed whether Kirk Cousins will be involved in the second season of Quarterback. However, it is not expected that Cousins will return for season 2. The initial season of the show impressed audiences by presenting a fresh perspective on the game and its star position.
As a result, season 2 will likely feature an entirely different group of quarterbacks. Nonetheless, Cousins may make a cameo appearance in some form. If he does, seeing how Cousins bounces back from his Achilles injury will be interesting.
Given that Marcus Mariota is slated to be a backup quarterback in the forthcoming season, it is highly improbable that he will be prominently featured in a key position. However, he may assume a secondary role as he supports one of the game’s breakout stars, Jalen Hurts, who is the starting quarterback and MVP candidate for the Philadelphia Eagles.
If Hurts is cast in season 2, there is a strong possibility that we will have the opportunity to witness more of Mariota, which could present an interesting narrative exploring the dynamics between a starting quarterback and their backup.
So which Quarterbacks will Be in Season 2?
Despite the triumph of its inaugural season, Quarterback’s creator, Peyton Manning, a renowned quarterback with two Super Bowl victories, is encountering difficulties in persuading present-day quarterbacks to participate in the show. Manning has made efforts to engage players through his production company, only to be met with a resounding chorus of refusals.
Fascinatingly, the show was an endeavor that Manning had previously endeavored to initiate but faced failure due to a lack of interest from quarterbacks in the league. Undoubtedly, the accomplishment of the show’s inaugural season will allure numerous individuals to become contestants.
