The premise is set in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1992. Promising college student Paige Dawn from Spelman College diverted from her path of success when she fell in love with a drug dealer. Paige, her boyfriend Malcolm and the new friend Romeo eventually fall through many challenges.
Her father, councilman Robert Dawn, aims to be the mayor. In chasing his ambition, he sacrifices his moral aptitude, causing an ethical dilemma as he has to pay it later. His wife, Connie, tries her best to keep the family together.
All these background stories are interwoven in a series of events in the backdrop of two of the most significant cultural events in Atlanta– Freaknik and the 1996 Olympics.
