My Dress-up is another rom-com anime. Darling featured great Cloverworks animation but a terrible depiction of romance among the main characters.
First and foremost, Kitagawa is just too vulgar, and the Gojo is far too naive. I felt like this combo was a horrible mismatch in certain ways, and I couldn’t even get through the show’s many irrelevant laughs. Having a beautiful/waifu-type eroge-inspired female MC and an innocent, decent-looking male MC is not enough to have a good romance.
The story was mediocre, and there was a lot of fanservice, though I’m surprised it wasn’t ecchi. It’s another Rom-com goody that aspired to be on the list of the finest in the genre, but I had no enjoyment viewing it at all, except for the excellent animation. (and the OP and ED as well). Let’s see how the following season pans out.
