Storyline of Halo: What it able to be about?

What happened at the end of Halo Season 1?

At the end of season one, The elite Spartan unit is being led by Master Chief Jaohn-117 in the fight against the Covenant, an extraterrestrial threat. After a shocking incident on a desolate planet, John is unable to avoid the realization that this war is about to change.
