What Is The Storyline Of Given Season 2?

Given is a BL anime series that follows the lives and relationships of four members of a rock band: Ritsuka Uenoyama, Mafuyu Satō, Haruki Nakayama, and Akihiko Kaji. Ritsuka is a high school student who plays the electric guitar and teaches Mafuyu how to play after fixing his broken strings.

Mafuyu is a shy and quiet classmate with a beautiful voice and a tragic past involving his former lover, who committed suicide.

Haruki is a college student who plays the bass guitar and has a secret crush on Akihiko. Akihiko is a graduate student who plays the drums and has a complicated relationship with his famous violinist roommate Ugetsu.

The anime series shows how the band forms and performs their original songs and how the characters’ romantic relationships develop and face various challenges.

Given Season 2 Spoiler

Yes, although it will undoubtedly take time, there are high chances of a new season. The anime studio Lerche has a reputation for producing multiple seasons of their anime series, such as Assassination Classroom, Danganronpa, Kino’s Journey, and Radiant. They also have a good relationship with Crunchyroll, which has streamed most of their titles globally.

Based on this crucial factor, we can assume that Given season 2 is not off the table and that it is only a matter of time before it gets greenlit.

However, we also have to consider that the manga series has a slow and irregular release schedule, which may affect the production timeline of the anime series.

What We Can Expect From Given Season 2?

The manga series is still running and has released seven volumes since December 2021. The anime series adapted the first two volumes in season 1, and the movie adapted the third. That means at least four more source material books are available for adaptation.

Moreover, the manga author has stated that she plans to continue the story with a third arc that will focus on Hiiragi Kashima and Shizusumi Yagi, two new characters who were introduced in the movie so by this, we can expect the next season to be focused on the relationship of these two.

What Happened At The End Of Given Season 1?

The end of season 1 was a touching moment for the band and the main characters. The band performed at a live concert and debuted their original song, “Fuyu no Hanashi” (A Winter Story).

In this song, Mafuya pours out his regret, guilt, and heartbreak and lets go of the trauma and heartfelt guilt because of Yuki Yoshida, his childhood best friend, and boyfriend, who committed suicide after a fight with him.

The song also confessed his love for Ritsuka, who was moved to tears by Mafuyu’s voice and lyrics. The performance became a huge success, earning them applause and admiration from the audience and other bands.

After the concert, Ritsuka and Mafuyu shared a passionate kiss backstage and officially became a couple. Meanwhile, Haruki and Akihiko also were dealing with their romantic issues.

Haruki had been secretly in love with Akihiko for a long time. Still, he never confessed his feelings because he knew that Akihiko was in a relationship with his roommate, Ugetsu, a famous violinist.

At the same time, Akihiko struggled with falling out with Ugetsu, his budding feelings for Haruki, and his musical career. The movie picked up from where season 1 left off and focused on Haruki and Akihiko’s story.

The movie’s ending shows how they eventually confronted their feelings for each other and decided to give their relationship a chance. It also showed how Ugetsu reacted to their decision, tried to mend his friendship with Akihiko, and finally faced the problem.

The movie also introduced two new characters, Hiiragi Kashima and Shizusumi Yagi, who were friends of Ugetsu and Akihiko from their music school.
