Genshin Impact Baal (Raiden Shogun) Guide: Best Build & Team – December 2023

Genshin Impact Baal (Raiden Shogun) Guide Best Build & Team

Though Baal is seen in the majority of the game’s cutscenes with a sword, she is actually an Electro polearm user. Although her blade has been taken away, don’t be alarmed; it will reappearance when she uses her elemental blast. As a support character, Baal’s powers are geared on dealing with problems for the team rather than being the focal point.

Without giving too much away about the plot, you’re going to need a strong team to defeat the new bosses in the upcoming update. Fortunately, it appears as though Baal will excel in his support and sub DPS roles.

Baal’s Attack

Normal Attack

Performs up to 5 consecutive spear strikes.

Charged Attack

Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to perform an upward slash.

Plunging Attack

Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.

Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu (Elemental Skill)

  • Baal reveals a shard of her Euthymia, inflicting Electro damage to opponents nearby. This strike delivers a flurry of fast Electro slashes.
  • Allies within range benefit from the ‘Eye of Stormy Judgment’ effect.
    • Characters under the power of the Eye of Stormy Judgment will launch a coordinated assault in addition to their own, causing extra AOE Electro damage.
    • They also earn an Elemental Burst damage bonus dependent on the Energy cost of that Burst.
    • This effect can happen once every 0.9 seconds for each party. Coordinated assaults from characters you do not control deal 20% of the standard damage.

Nereid’s Ascension (Elemental Burst)

  • Baal performs her ‘Musou no Hitotachi’ attack, drawing an Electro Sword from her own body (really, really) and causing AOE Electro damage.
  • This is immediately followed by a flurry of ‘Musou Isshin’ assaults.
    • The Musou Isshin condition adds Electro to all of Baal’s Normal, Charged, and Plunging attacks. Elemental Burst damage will be dealt as a result of these assaults.
    • Any Musou Isshin strike will replenish Energy for nearby friends. This can happen once every second for a total of five times.
    • While Musou Isshin is active, Baal gains greater resistance to interruption and tolerance to Electro-Charged Elemental Reaction damage.
  • If Raiden Shogun leaves the battlefield, the Musou Isshin effects will be removed.
  • Raiden Shogun receives Resolve stacks when adjacent friends use Elemental Bursts (excluding Baal) as part of the ‘Chakra Desiderata’ effect.
    • The quantity of Resolve acquired is determined by the Energy prices of the Bursts. The maximum amount of Resolve available is 60.
    • Resolve is consumed when Baal’s Burst is activated, and it increases the damage done by Musou no Hitatachi and Misou Isshin attacks.
    • If Baal is idle for more than 300 seconds, the resolve earned by Chakra Desiderata will vanish.

Ascension 1 – Wishes Unnumbered (Passive 1)

  • When nearby allies pick up Elemental particles or orbs, Chakra Desiderata gains two stacks of Resolve
    • This effect can occur once every three seconds.

Ascension 4 – Enlightened One (Passive 2)

  • Every additional 1% of Energy Recharge (above 100%) grants Baal the following bonuses:
    • Plus 0.6% extra Energy restoration from Musou Isshin.
    • A 0.4% Electro damage bonus.

All-Preserver (Passive 3)

  • The Mora cost of Polearm and Sword Ascensions is decreased by 50%.

Weapon Options

MiHoYo will introduce a new Inazuma Polearm weapon, Engulfing Lightning, alongside Baal’s Wish Banner in Genshin Impact 2.1. And guess what else? It’s just right for our Raiden Shogun. It boosts Energy Recharge and offers additional bonuses dependent on it, so it’s easy to understand why you should utilise it if you have the chance.

On the negative side, we’re talking about a new 5-Star Polearm. If you don’t have enough Primogems to pull for it, you can still achieve a strong Raiden Shogun build with a Prototype Starglitter, a Favonius Lance, or (ideally) The Catch.

The Catch, which will be added in Genshin Impact 2.1, is Baal’s second-best weapon after Engulfing Lightning. It improves both her Energy Recharge and her Elemental Burst.

Engulfing Lightning (5-Star) – Increases Energy Recharge as a secondary stat and increases Baal’s attack dependent on her Energy Recharge remaining over 100%. In addition, after using Raiden Shogun’s Elemental Burst, you will receive an Energy Recharge bonus for a limited time.

The Catch (4-Star) – Increased Energy Recharge is granted. Elemental Burst damage and critical rate are also increased.

Favonius Lance (4-Star) – This Polearm provides a boost to Energy Recharge. Furthermore, critical hits have a chance to generate a small amount of Elemental Particles.

Prototype Starglitter (4-Star) –After using an Elemental Skill, this skill grants an Energy Recharge bonus and increases Normal and Charged Attack damage.

Best Baal Artifacts

It makes reasonable to prioritise Elemental Burst damage and Energy Recharge when looking for the best Artifacts for Baal. Remember, in mind that Baal’s Elemental Burst Energy cost is enormous, and she will receive from a high Energy Recharge. As a result, the Emblem of Severed Fate Artifact set is the finest choice for the Raiden Shogun.

When it comes to secondary stats, strive to gain more Energy Recharge on the Sands of Eon Artifact slot. Although the damage bonus between Energy Rate and Attack on the Sands is minor, keep in mind that Energy Rate provides all of the other benefits, which is why it is superior. On the others, you can go for Attack (Goblet) and Critical Rate (Circlet), but extra Attack or Elemental Mastery aren’t a bad idea either.

If you don’t have the Emblem of Severed Fate Artifact set, you can equip Noblesse oblige to the Raiden Shogun instead. This still grants Baal a strong Burst and a useful support bonus. Attempt to utilise an Energy Recharge stat on the Sands of Eon slot once more.

If you don’t have one of these sets, try looking for Exile or Thundering Fury Artifacts. The former provides a rise in Energy Recharge, while the latter may convert Baal into a solid Electro DPS for early game Genshin Impact players.

Emblem of Severed Fate – (2) Increases Energy Recharge by 20%. (4) Elemental Burst damage is increased by 25% of your Energy Recharge.

Noblesse Oblige – (2) Increases Elemental Burst damage by 20%. (4) After using an Elemental Burst, all allies’ attack power is increased by 20% for a duration of 12 seconds.

The Exile – (2) Increase Energy Recharge by 20%. (4) After using an Elemental Burst, you’ll regenerate two Energy for all allies (excluding Baal herself) every two seconds. The effect lasts for six seconds.

Thundering Fury – (2) Grants an Electro damage bonus of 15%. (4) Damage from Overloaded, Electro-Charged and Superconduct Elemental reactions is increased by 40%. Triggering such effects also decreases the Elemental Skill cooldown by one second (no more than once every 0.8 seconds).

Best Team for Baal

Because Baal is an Elemental Burst Support, search for allies that have an extremely powerful Elemental Burst attack. Furthermore, because Baal is not a primary DPS or healer/shield giver, you must fill those responsibilities. Eula would be a great choice for the primary DPS position, with Diona serving as the best Support (also providing a handy Cryo Resonance Critical Rate buff).

If you’re going to root for Baal, there’s a strong possibility you’ll also acquire a Kujou Sara. That’s great, because these two are a perfect match. You may utilise them both as a battery, with Baal charging Kujou Sara swiftly and Kujou Sara boosting Baal’s attacks.

Kazuha or Sucrose are strong choices for additional Sub DPS characters. If you want to boost the team’s assault even further, you can use a Pyro DPS like Yoimiya and an extra Support like Bennett. If you require additional healing, consider adding Qiqi or Jean to your team.

  • Top Tier Team
    • Main DPS: Eula (Burst), Tartaglia
    • Sub DPS: Kazuha, Yoimiya, Mona, Fischl
    • Sub DPS/Support: Baal, Kujou Sara (Dual Battery, Elemental Resonance), Xingqiu/Bennett (Attack Buffs)
    • Support: Diona, Qiqi, Jean
  • Budget Team
    • Main DPS: Beidou, Kaeya
    • Sub DPS: Lisa, Xiangling
    • Sub DPS/Support: Baal
    • Support: Barbara, Noelle
