Bigg Boss is one of the most popular reality show in the Indian television industry. The reality show is so popular among the audience that it is running since 2006. Recently it completed its 14th season and very soon the channel is coming up with season 15. The makers of the show always made sure that their contestants are coming from different backgrounds, religions, and ideologies. There is a specific pattern of contestants that we see. We see mostly the celebrities from the industry who have lost their charm or are not very active currently. Lastly, they choose to participate in Bigg Boss to boost their career. Hence, the Bigg Boss winner has the opportunity to come back to the industry.
It is one of the longest-running reality TV shows of Indian television history. The majority of people follow the show religiously. And no wonder that the show mostly remains among the top rankers on the TRP chart. The show is one of a kind for its unique format and diversity of contestants.
Even though some people do not like Bigg Boss mostly because of its concept and format. They also believe that Bigboss has nothing constructive to offer to society. But no matter what Bigg Boss never disappointed its audience from an entertainment point of view. It is like love it or hate it but you can’t ignore it. Background
Bigg Boss is the Indian version of Bigg Brother. Big brother is a Dutch reality game. Endemol Netherlands came up with the concept of big brother. The production company of Bigg Boss the Indian reality show is also Endemol India. Several popular celebrities hosted the show since the beginning. Among them, Amitabh Bacchan Salman Khan Sanjay Dutt, and Farah Khan are the popular hosts. Shilpa Shetty also hosted the second season of Bigg Boss after she won Big Brother.
Format
Contestants, who we call housemates, have to live in a purpose-built house at Lonavla. They have to completely cut off all connections from the world. They cannot even talk to their family members except on some special episodes. Where the family members come inside the Bigg Boss house to talk to the housemates. The house is very big and lavish, filled with amenities. But they have a television, telephone, neither washing machine nor dishwasher. Every week housemaids nominate a few contestants for eviction. And on the basis of the audience’s vote, the contestants face eviction from the show. Of course, there are some twists in the plot and things can change at any time. The housemates also have to perform some tasks. And the ones who win the task receive immunity from eviction for that week.
House Rules
The Big Boss house rules are very strict. And Bigg Boss also makes sure that every contestant is abiding by the house rules. Even though the show has not exposed the complete set of house rules in front of the audience. But from the episodes few rules are evident.
- The inmates can only e speak in Hindi.
- The inmates get to sleep only during the lights-off period. As soon as the lights turn on everyone has to wake up.
- They cannot temper with any electronics equipment for Bigg Boss property.
- The inmates cannot discuss nominations among themselves.
- Physical violence is not allowed inside the house
- The contestants always have to wear the mic while they are speaking.
- They also have to take care of the mic that it does not comes in contact with any liquid.

Season 1 (2006)
The first season of Bigg Boss aired on Sony Entertainment Television from November 2006 to January 2007. It was the only season that the Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi hosted. The tagline of the first season was “Kahin uski Nazar aap par To Nahin! “. Even though Big Boss is an adaptation of Big Brother. Unlike Big Brother the Indian version had celebrities as housemates, not the general public.

Rahul Roy is a former Indian film actor. His first film was Aashiqui, the 1990 blockbuster film produced by Mahesh Bhatt. He is the first season Bigg Boss winner, in 2007. Prior to winning Bigg Boss, he did several films but none of those films succeed in the box office. After winning Bigg Boss he worked in films like Elaan, 2B or not to be, 2016 the end. His recent film was Cabarete that released on Zee5 in 2019.
1st runner up: Carol Gracias
Carol is an Indian supermodel. Other than doing modeling she also worked on some albums for films. She was also a contestant in Khatron Ke Khiladi season 2. She last appeared on the music video of the 2015 film Aisa Yeh Jahaan.
2nd runner up: Ravi Kishan
Ravi Kishan or Ravindra Shyam Narayan Shukla is a famous Bhojpuri actor. Currently, he is active as a politician from Bhartiya Janata Party. In his acting career, he acted in several Hindi Bhojpuri Telugu, and Kannada films. He last appeared in the 2019 Hindi film Batla House which was successful at the box office. His most recent work was in the Kannada film ‘Roberrt’ where he did the role of MLA Tripathi. First joined politics in 2014 and join the Indian National Congress. In February 2017 Ravi left the Congress Party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. In the 2019 general election, Ravi Kishan won against Rambhual Nishad in the Gorakhpur constituency of Uttar Pradesh.
Season 2 (2008)
The second season of Bigg Boss airs on the Colors television network. Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty hosted the second season. However, she is also the winner of Big Brother.
Winner: Ashutosh Kaushik
Date: 22 November 2008
Prize: ₹1 crore
Ashutosh Kaushik is the former winner of MTV Hero Honda Roadies 5.0. After that, he became the Bigg Boss winner of Season 2 in 2008. He had a very small filmography career. He was in the movies like Zila Ghaziabad, Shortcut Romeo, and Kismat Love Paisa Dill.
1st runner up: Raja Chaudhary
Raja Chaudhary is a Bhojpuri film actor. Raja was married to Shweta Tiwari a former Bigg Boss winner. They separated in 2007 and their divorce was granted in 2012. Raja Chaudhari was an alcoholic and he was alleged of domestic violence. He worked in few Bhojpuri films and some small roles in television shows like Adalat, Tenali Rama, Kahani Chandrakanta ki, etc.
2nd runner up: Zulfi Syed
Zulfi Syed is a former television actor and Indian model.
Season 3 (2009)
Season 3 of Bigg Boss aired on Colors TV Entertainment channel. Mr. Amitabh Bacchan hosted this season.
Winner: Vindu Dara Singh

Vindu Dara Singh is a former television actor. Also, he is the son of former actor Dara Singh, who did the role of Hanuman in Ramayan in DD Nation. However, Vindu acted in serials like Jay Veer Hanuman, in the role of Hanuman like his father. He was also in TV Serials like Adaalat, Betal Pachisi, Shhhh…Koi Hai. Singh also acted in some popular films like Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, Partner, Housefull, Son of Sardaar, etc. He is the Bigg Boss winner of season 3.
1st runner up: Pravesh Rana
Parvesh Rana is the former Mr. India 2008. He also hosted several seasons of Emotional Atyachaar. Rana recently acted in BBC’s British crime drama serial The Serpent in 2021. Moreover, he is also in the upcoming movie of Salman Khan “Radhe”.
2nd runner up: Poonam Dhillon
Poonam Dhillon is a veteran actress of Bollywood. However, her first debut film was Trishul (1978). She is very active in social causes like drug awareness, organ donating, AIDS, and family planning. She also is a politician. Dhillon joined the BJP in 2004. Moreover, the BJP party appointed her as the vice president of the Mumbai Unit in 2019. Season 4 (2010)
From Bigg Boss Season 4 Salman Khan started hosting Bigg Boss. And since then he is still hosting Bigg Boss. Also, you cannot think of Salman Khan and Bigg Boss separately.

Shweta Tiwari is a famous television actress known for her role as Prerna in Kasauti Zindagi Ki. However, it was not her first project. She previously worked in few DD National daily soaps. Tiwari was married to Raja Chaudhury the former contestant of Bigg Boss Season 2. She reported alcoholism and domestic violence against Chaudhury. However, their troubled marriage ended in 2012. Though they were separated since 2007. Since she won Bigg Boss Shweta has been very active in the television industry. She was n the lead role of several TV serials. Also, her most recent project was mere Dad Ki Dulhan (2019-2020). She is the Bigg Boss winner of season 4.
1st runner up: Dalip Singh Rana
Dalip Singh Rana or The Great Khali is a professional wrestler. He won several wrestling championships. In February 2016, he won the CWE World Heavyweight Championship. However, he was the only contestant for whom the show had special arrangements. Such as a custom bed to fit him, and extra food to maintain his diet. Khali also appeared in films like MacGruber, Kushti, Ramaa: The Saviour, etc.
2nd runner up: Ashmit Patel
Ashmit Patel is an Indian model and actor. However, he is the brother of Indian actress Amisha Patel. Before that Patel started his career as an assistant director for Vikram Bhatt. Later she hosted MTV Superdude. However, he also appeared in few films in supporting characters. His upcoming project is a web series for the Ullu app where he will e playing the role of terrorist Abu Shamil – the mastermind of the Mumbai attack.
Season 5 (2011)
In season 5 of Bigg Boss, Sanjay Dutt hosted alongside Salman Khan. Salman Khan only appeared in some weekend episodes because he was busy shooting his movie at the time. The public loved both of them as the host of Bigg Boss.

Juhi Parmar is an Indian Television Actress and singer and anchor. However, we know her from her role in Kumkum Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan which ran for seven years in Star Plus. There she was in the lead role as Kumkum. However, before that Juhi Parmar did several Hindi daily soaps. After becoming the Bigg Boss winner of season 5 she also did some television series. Presently she’s working in the TV series Hamari wali good news.
1st runner up: Mahek Chahal
Mahak Chahal is and model and actress in Bollywood. She did several small roles in Bollywood movies. However, she is popular for her item numbers in Bollywood films.
2nd runner up: Siddharth Bhardwaj
Siddharth Bhardwaj is the winner of MTV Splitsvilla season 2 a dating television reality show. He is also a model and actor. However, after Bigg Boss season 5 he did not do any notable works in the industry.
Season 6 (2012)
Winner: Urvashi Dholakia

Urvashi Dholakia is a popular Indian Television actress. She did the legendary Vamp role of Komolika in Kasauti Zindagi Ki. Her acting in that role was so popular among the audience that they started copying her style. Moreover, she is a single mother of two children. After becoming Bigg Boss winner, she did some TV serials. Also, she was a contestant in Nach Baliye season 9.
1st runner up: Imam Siddique
Imam Siddique was one of the most controversial contestants in the history of Bigg Boss. Moreover, he is from the LGBTQ community. But due to his appearance behavior and weird actions contestants did not like him. Even the host Salman Khan highly criticized him for his actions. But however, the audience kept him till the end of the show and he became the first runner up.
2nd runner up: Sana Khan
Sana Khan is one of the significant Bollywood actresses who has been doing supporting roles. She acted in a civil Bollywood movie in the supporting role. Such as Halla bol tom dick and harry rock again climax Jai ho, Toilet, Ek Prem Katha. Sana Khan last appeared in the 2019 movie Ayogya which was a Tamil film. After that in 2020 declared her breakup with Melvin Louis and accused him of cheating. Gauhar Khan has recently been in news because of her marriage with actor Zaid Darbar. She is a significant Television actress. Gauhar has also worked in several Bollywood films like Rocket Singh salesman of the Year Ishaqzaade Badrinath ki Dulhania Begum Jaan etc. God has been a constant face as a guest appearance in Bigg Boss Seasons. Khan has also worked in the 2021 web series Tandav that released on Prime Video. She is the Bigg Boss winner of season 7.
1st runner up: Tanishaa Mukerji
Tanisha Mukherjee the daughter of filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee and actress Tanuja Samarth. She is an Indian actress who worked in Bollywood as well as Telugu and Tamil film industry. After Bigg Boss did few films and also some television series. She was also a contestant in Khatron Ke Khiladi season 7.

Gautam Gulati is an Indian film and TV actor. He became popular with his role in Diya Aur Baati Hum and Pyar Ki Yeh Ek Kahani. After he became the Bigg Boss winner of Season 8 appeared in fwe television shows like the Kapil Sharma show MTV big f and Mujhse Shaadi Karoge. In 2019 he did a web series Operation Cobra which released on Eros Now. His upcoming project is the 2021 film Radhe.

Karishma Tanna is an Indian model and television actor. She did her debut with Ekta Kapoor’s popular television show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Before Bigg Boss, she acted in many television series. And after she became the first runner-up of Bigg Boss season 8 she appeared in Nach Baliye 7, MTV Love school 1, Jhalak Dikhlaja 9. Prince Narula is the reality show king. Before winning Bigg Boss Season 9 he won MTV Roadies 12 and MTV Splitsvilla 8. Prince MTV Roadies 14 is a Gang Leader in the show. He did several music videos and special appearances on reality shows. Prince appeared on the 2019 web series Bombers which released on Zee 5.
1st runner up: Rishabh Sinha
Rishabh Sinha is an Indian Television actor. One of his signature roles was in Qubool Hai as Ayaan. He was also a contestant of Splitsvilla 2012 and also 2014.
2nd runner up: Mandana karimi
Mandana Karimi is an Iranian actress and model. She started her Bollywood career with the film Bhaag Johnny. Karimi also appeared in few Bollywood films like Roy, Mai Aur Charles, Kya Kool Hai Hum 3. However, Mandana also did one web series The Casino which released on Zee 5 in 2020.

This was the second season featuring the common man in Bigg Boss. However, it was the first season that featured is a whole lot of common people along with celebrities. Manveer Gurjar was the first common man to win the trophy of Bigg Boss. He comes from a farmer background.
1st runner up: Bani J
Bani J or Gurbani judge is a very popular radio jockey model and television host. She had been hosting MTV Roadies sins season 4. Jaj Aaj is renowned for her dedication to fitness. Recently she appeared on the Prime video web series “Four More Shots Please!” In 2020 the second season of four more shots please released. The web series became very popular and it also got nominations in Emmy awards.
2nd runner up: Lopamudra Raut
Lopamudra Raut is a model Andra presenter of India at Miss United continents 2016 pageant stop after participating in Bigg Boss she also participated in Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi.
Season 11 (2017)
Winner: Shilpa Shinde

Shilpa Shinde is a popular Television actress who became popular with the television series Bhabhi Ji Ghar par hai. She played the lead character of bhabhi Ji. Before that, she appeared on many television series like CID, Chidiyaghar, Savdhaan India, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev, etc.
1st runner up: Hina Khan
Hina Khan is also popular because of the television industry. Her breakthrough was with the Star Plus TV series Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. It was one of the longest-running show operators where she played the role of Akshara Singhania. Almost after eight years, she had quit the show. Winner: Dipika Kakar Ibrahim

Dipika Kakar Ibrahim is another favorite Bahu of the Indian household. She became popular with her role as Seema in the TV series Sasural Simar Ka. She won season 12 of Big Boss. And recently Sasural Simar Ka season 2 launched where Deepika is doing the role of Seema Bhardwaj again.
1st runner up: S. Sreesanth
Is Sreesanth is a former Indian cricketer. He is a right-arm fast-medium pace bowler. He also is a film actor who also did several commercials and modeling jobs. After a spot-fixing allegation against him, Sreesanth had a lifetime ban on him. But in March 2019 the Supreme Court of India set aside the life Ban imposed on him. BCCI reduced his ban to 7 years. Sreesanth appeared in few films like Aksar 2, team 5, Cabaret, and Kempe Gowda 2.

Asim Riaz is an Indian model. After becoming the first runner up in Bigg Boss season 1 he appeared in several music videos.
2nd runner up: Shehnaz Gil
Shehnaz Gill is an Indian actress model and singer stop she is basically from Punjab. And she started her career with Punjabi music videos. After participating in Bigg Boss she did few Punjabi films and several music videos. She also did a television show Mujhse Shaadi Karogi in 2020.
Season 14 (2020)

Rubina Dilaik is a television actress and another favorite Bahu of Indian households. Her breakthrough was with zee TV Chhoti Bahu where she played the role of Radhika. She also did an inspirational television show Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas ki where she acted as a transgender. This year she released two music videos. One for Neha Kakkar and another for Asees Kaur.
1st runner up: Rahul Vaidya
Rahul Vaidya is a Bollywood singer who was also a contestant in Indian Idol Season one. Moreover, he also is a host of several reality singing shows.

Nikki Tamboli is a Tamil and Telugu film actress. Started her career as a model and later she e joined the film industry first job she is known for her Tamil movie Kanchana 3. This year her music video “Birthday Pawri” released.
