Produced by Netflix, Betaal is one of the most flawlessly done Indian horror web series. It is based on the concept of zombies and raising the dead to wreak havoc.
The story takes place in a rural village where the opening of a cursed tunnel unleashes the vengeful spirit of the officer Lt. Col John Lynedoch, and his army squad of zombie redcoats who were a part of the East India Company and used to live there during the mutiny of 1857.
Our protagonist, Captain Vikram Sirohi is the leader of the Baaz squad who apart from being part of the army, takes part in illegally expelling tribal people from their lands and extorting them under his iniquitous Commander Tyagi’s commands.
A battle of life and death ensues between these two groups of humans and zombies when they try to force their ways upon them.

Betaal Storyline: would it be able to be About?
Commander Vikram Sirohi along with his squad mates Akbar, Ahluwalia, and Haq who also happens to be Akbar’s cousins are a part of the boy’s squad under the immoral and money-hungry commandant Tyagi.
On the face, the squad might look like a normal counter-insurgency police department but it is a lot more complicated than that.
Commandant Tyagi uses this squad for her selfish gains by associating with the rich Ajay Mudhalvan, owner of Surya construction company, in causing arson in the rural and tribal lands of the mountains to snatch their land away from them and use them for other construction purposes.

After knowing the truth Vikram pretends to be unaware of it due to his past trauma involving a little female child years ago.
On the other end, we are shown the village at the foot of the betaal mountains which is very superstitious and religious for the group of people residing there. They conduct monthly rituals where a psychic elderly woman communicates with the spirit of beta through a Devi figurine and envisions the future of the land.
During one such ritual, she gets to know about the arrival of the CIPD group to break the supposedly cursed tunnel that has been protecting their land from the horrendous truth for years.
However, due to the invasion of the CIPD aided by Mudhalvan, his wife, and daughter Saanvi, their secret is at risk. They try to warn the forces not to tamper with the ancient legend but they just laugh it off.
The real dilemma begins after breaking the tunnel to build a bridge to welcome the CM, and members both from the village and the squad start to get possessed by the spirit of the late army officer of East India Company who once dreamt of creating an army of its own and becoming the head of the British Empire. Now using mind control he starts to control the zombies and include them in their gang to form a huge battalion of dead people.
What is going to happen in Season 2 with expectations and spoilers?
After the end of season 1 left us on a cliffhanger we are yet to see what will happen in the second season of Betaal. The ending of the story already showed us that nothing has been solved but instead, it has been made worse.
Terror is going to break out through the entire country and the situation is going to worsen in the second season. It will be difficult and intriguing to see how the rest of the survivors from the first season will tackle this situation since it has become a widespread thing now.
In the first season, all the horrific events were taking place in and around a small region but now it has spread on a mass level and to curb it the group will have to come up with something extraordinary.
What Happened At The End Of Betaal Season 1?
By the end of the first season the colonel’s spirit has fully possessed Commandant Tyagi and the dead Haq has now become a part of the zombie army. The colonel starts using mind control to invade the barracks that were the hideout of the survivors.
He demands Saanvi as a sacrifice for the fulfillment of the black magic ritual but on refusal encages her father at the altar of the cursed shrine. He also tries to torture Vikram by bending his mind and thoughts to compel him to surrender Saanvi to them but Vikram fights back and together the four of them set fire to the shrine and escape.
On the way back they come to know that burning down the shine was not at all a solution and in fact, it was acting as a container to encase the curse. Now with the shrine demolished, the curse has spread throughout the country and British flags start to pop up from water bodies in different parts of India.
