When Is The One Season 2 Coming Out?
“The One,” distributed over eight episodes, got its first premiere date on 12th March 2021. The exact date was assigned for the release of the subsequent episodes, and thus, the show ended on the same date it was released. Sci-fi fans are now waiting eagerly for the second Season to drop in! “Will The One Season 2 episodes” hit the screen anytime soon?
According to official data from the makers, the show has not been confirmed yet for a renewal. However, Netflix has not canceled it either.
Thus, it is very early to comment on the show’s fate. If the studio agrees to come up with “The One Season 2“, we can expect the show to be released by the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025.
The One (2023) Storyline: What is it able to be about?
“The One” revolves around Rebecca Webb, a scientist turned technopreneur, after she came up with a whole new concept of dating – matchmaking based on DNA compatibility!
In order to pitch her brand to the public, Rebecca claims that MatchDNA has helped her find her true love – Ethan!
However, things take an unpleasant turn for the protagonist when past secret surfaces – Rebecca and her friend, as well as fellow researcher James who has now found a new way to match people with their soulmates – with the help of DNA.
Actually, Ben, Rebecca’s flatmate, who had a special place in his heart for Rebecca, was researching about how ant pheromones are responsible for their social nature, which surprisingly, is also applicable to humans!
When Rebecca stole the formulae from Ben and made a whole new concept out of it, Ben felt cheated! However, Rebecca, in her pursuit to make lots of money from her new venture, kills Ben, which James witnessed.
In the present, the story introduces us to few other faces, Mark, a journalist writing about MatchDNA, and her wife Hannah. When insecurity gets the better of her, Hannah sends Mark’s hair to MatchDNA to find the soulmate for her husband.
But, her true intention was purely different. In reality, she wanted to befriend Megan, the so-called soulmate of Mark, only to keep her away from the former.
The story also introduces us to Kate, an investigating officer tasked with solving the murder mystery of Ben – whose dead body has been found floating in the Thames. While Kate suspects Rebecca and James as the culprit, the investigating officer gets matched with Sophia from Barcelona. Later, Kate matches with Sophia’s sibling, creating a complicated love affair between the trio.
What happened at the end of The One (2023) Season 1?
The series finale started with Rebecca addressing the audience about her decision to go public with her company, MatchDNA. She was found saying that they have decided to sell the stocks soon.
On the other side, we saw Kate meeting Matheus to tell him she knows about his relationship with Rebecca. When Matheus agrees, Kate requests him to record each word Rebecca says!
Later, we saw Mark confronting Hannah about his decision to stay with the latter forever. Megan felt insulted as a result, and thus decided on to move back to Australia. When guilt got the better of Hannah, she went on to meet with Megan, only to make things easier for her. Megan returns back with Hannah’s hair to send it to the lab – to find a suitable match for her.
The scene changes, and we now get transported to the day when Ben was killed. We find Matheus telling Rebecca about the “real match” when Ben overhears their conversation, only to find that Rebecca has betrayed him. When James appeared on the scene, Rebecca bonded with him and pushed Ben from the rooftop, which eventually killed him.
Back in the present, when Matheus asks Rebecca to be honest with him, David appears from nowhere and attempts to kill her. However, Matheus jumps in between and, thus, gets killed by David.
When Kate meets Rebecca to tell her that David has been arrested and that she knows Rebecca’s involvement in the Ben murder case, the former warns Kate to be careful about Sophia.
In the end, we found David dead in the prison, and Rebecca received a confirmation that “the work” had been done. Soon, she walks into the stage saying, “I’ve got a secret I want to share with you all.”

What will be going to happen in Season 2 with expectations and spoilers?
“The One Season 2 episodes” are expected to pick up from where the Season 1 left off. If we take a look back into the series finale of the premiere season, we would see that the final episode ended on a cliffhanger when Kate came to know about Rebecca’s dark past and how she betrayed and later killed Ben in the process.
When Kate confronts about the same to our protagonist, Rebecca warns Kate to be careful about Sophia! Did she hint at a possible danger to Kate’s match Sophia? Is Rebecca plotting against her?
On the other hand, we found David dead in the prison, and in the meantime, Rebecca received a message from “someone” regarding David’s death! Is Rebecca to be blamed for his death? We do not know yet.
In the climax scene, we saw Rebecca walking up to the stage to address a large audience group. Once in the stage, she was seen saying, “I’ve got a secret I want to share with you all.” What secret was she talking about?
All these unresolved mysteries are expected to be solved in the upcoming Season. The show is expected to delve deeper into the past secrets of the characters involved in the crime. We can also expect to see more of the love triangle between Kate, Sophia, and Sebastian.
Their chemistry is expected to get more complicated in the upcoming release. On the other hand, what awaits next for Hannah and Mark? With Megan sending Hannah’s DNA to find the right match for her, will her relationship with Mark be affected now? If you want to get answers to these questions, wait for the Season 2 to hit your screens by 2024.
