In reality, an experienced player with a new/weak game avatar can still do significant damage due to his understanding of the game. However, this story attempts to place the world’s best player into a new avatar. But I realize that it may not be everybody’s cup of tea.
The primary character is the plot’s focal point, but the show makes me care about the supporting cast. They did a fantastic job of incorporating numerous characteristics and classes of combatants. (SAO, I’m staring at you… take notes!)
The Kings Avatar’s battle choreography and animation genuinely impressed me.
The art is stunning and has a distinct style, evident 30 seconds into the first episode. I enjoyed how they utilized 3D animation for a portion of the show, except in a few areas, but I liked how they handled it overall.
I sincerely hope this anime will receive an English dub shortly… I had to rewind and halt some subtitles because I should quickly… It would be best if you also had a basic understanding of MMOs, but the show does an excellent job of explaining game mechanics and meanings, so this is optional.
