When is S.W.A.T Season 8 coming out?

Unfortunately, S.W.A.T. Season 7 is the final season of the series. During the season 6 airing period, CBS surprisingly cancelled the show. However, a few days later, they reversed the decision. Now, the series was renewed for the final season with season 7.

CBS president Amy Reichenbach said that they had reached an agreement that the show would return for one last time with 13 episodes. They have listened to their fans’ demands and renewed the series for the 2023-24 lineup.

She later expressed that they have found a way to give a proper ending to the storyline and the beloved characters. The decision to cancel the show for season 7 came when the issue with licensing fees surfaced. The show is co-produced by Sony and CBS.

According to sources, Sony TV Head Katherine Pope told CBS in a meeting that Sony would not reduce its licensing fee below the budget line after season 6. It’s now upon CBS who have to increase the budget for a new season.

CBS sent a new deal that they will increase the fees if the renewal is fixed with a shorter season of only 13 episodes. Sony declined, but the decision left a huge negative impression on social media.

Showrunner Shawn Ryan accepted to make the series with 13 episodes, unaware of the offer. He signed the contract with 13 episodes, which brought back the series S.W.A.T season 7.

S.W.A.T is overall a big hit with solid ratings. Furthermore, the show is doing well on Netflix as well. If the showrunners could bring the franchise with a spin-off or remake, it wouldn’t be a bad idea. For now, fans should look forward to the final season.

Storyline of S.W.A.T: What is it able to be about?

Christina “Chris” Alonso is also an officer and canine trainer. Dominique Luca is the team’s driver; his expert driving skills save the team from all risky situations.

Victor Tan joined the team after being in the LAPD Hollywood Division. He has a confidential informant to help the team with information. Jim Street is the newest impudent member who was once fired but is now reinstated in S.W.A.T.

What happened at the end of S.W.A.T Season 7?

Season 6 of the S.W.A.T final episode focuses on the criminal Sancho Zamora from Mexico. His son Ulan committed a crime and was killed by the DEA and LAPD. Now, Sancho is targeting them to take revenge.

Ten years later, she is all grown up. The man, Verdugo, who killed her mother, is now being extradited to the US. The killer was involved in so many crimes in Mexico that he is now the most wanted man.

With her help, the SWAT team managed to track him, but he escaped once again. Losing all hope, she determined to face Verdugo all by herself. Verdugo earlier took on a heist mission where he stole some dangerous weapons and bombs meant for the Mexican government.

Pia somehow managed to track Verdugo without letting the SWAT team know. Verdugo was aware of her presence and caught her. The SWAT team and Hondo arrived at the moment when Verdugo almost hanged Pia. Hondo had no choice but to shoot Verdugo.

The weapons were all found except the vacuum bomb. The extradition mission failed as Verdugo was dead. Pia was carrying the guilt her whole life when she felt she was the reason for her mother’s death. Hondo consoles her not to buy someone’s guilt.

Meanwhile, Powell went on a date with an officer in Mexico. To everyone’s surprise, the officer was the one who stole the vacuum bomb. In a surprising incident, he strangled Powell. The episode ended with such a massive cliffhanger. The following episode will reveal Powell’s aftermath.
