Two pals, Lloyd, who is in dire straits, and Marcus, inadvertently fall into trouble (and magic) and find their long-lost lover from childhood, Dineo, who turns out to be an undercover vintage dealer. As it turns out, the antique isn’t just an old relic but a portal to an age-old spirit that arises when touched by Dineo.
This unleashed spirit becomes chaotic in their life, blurring reality and dreams. The practical Lloyd finds it hard to understand the fantasy. Conversely, the romantic Marcus accepts the confusion and gets carried away in this journey. In between her past and present, she has to unlock the secrets of both Dineo and of the relic itself.
They travel through mystical caverns, sacred burial grounds, and buzzing streets of Johannesburg. They meet creatures from another world and fight against powerful adversaries while revealing hidden truths about their families and themselves.
It is not only about escaping from the spirit; it’s also about facing phobias, taking up one’s destiny, and understanding how friendship can be as meaningful as blood relationships (both biological ties and ones we choose).
What Happened at the End of In Your Dreams (2023) Season 1?
The spirit, once freed from its vessel, causes a ruckus in Johannesburg by messing with people’s minds. However, Dineo grasps her ancestral magic and draws upon the spirit’s strength to quell the storm.
