Badlands was the first studio album that Halsey released in 2015. It came out in 2015. Along with the tracks “Colors” and “Gasoline,” the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified it as having achieved the achievement of Double Platinum status. She made an appearance on “Closer,” a song by the Chainsmokers that was released in 2016, and it quickly rose to the top of the charts in more than ten countries. The singles “Now or Never” and “Bad at Love” from her second studio album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom (2017), both reached the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 and were more “radio-friendly” than her past works. Both songs were featured on the album’s title track.

It was the lead single from her third studio album, Manic (2020), that sent her to the top of the charts as a solo artist and helped the album become her most successful commercially. It was Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails. Halsey served as producer for her fourth studio album, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power (2021), which deviated from her previous sound in favor of a darker industrial sound. The album was met with generally positive reviews and was well received by critics. As “the record [she] always wanted to make,” Halsey referred to it in her comments.

An estimate from Billboard in the year 2020 suggests that Halsey has amassed over 6 billion streams in the United States and has sold over 1 million records. Her distinctive singing voice has garnered a lot of attention. She is the recipient of a number of honors and achievements, including three Grammy Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, one GLAAD Media Award, one MTV Video Music Award, and one MTV Video Music Award.

In addition, she will be given the Songwriter of the Year award at the BMI Film & TV Awards in 2021. Additionally, Time magazine ranked her as one of the top one hundred most influential people in the world in the year 2020. In addition to her work in the music industry, she has demonstrated racial justice, advocated for the rights of victims of sexual assault, and helped spread awareness about the dangers of suicide.
