Dark Winds is a psychological murder mystery drama starring Zahn McClarnon and Kiowa Gordon. Leaphorn & Chee have several parts with different exciting stories with the same characters. Season one of Dark Winds adapts Listening Woman and some parts of People with Darkness, while season two completely adapts.
The story of Dark Winds picks up when a small city in New Mexico called Gallup gets robbed. From the surface, it looks like a normal robbery, but actually, it has a far more dangerous motive hidden behind it.
The robbers killed two guards, robbed an armored truck, and flew over the Navajo reservation. The severity of the case was known when Hosteen Tso, an older man from the village who was a witness to the robbery, started suffering from an acute ailment and was found dead in a motel.

To solve the case, Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn of the Navajo Tribal Police was assigned to the area of Gallup. He was joined by Jim Chee, then the newest deputy in the area. Jim Chee might look like a fun guy, but he is actually an undercover FBI agent who is on a mission to solve the murder case rather than the robbery one.
According to the FBI, Buffalo Society, a Navajo radical group, is behind the accident, but to be sure, they will have to investigate it at the grass-roots level properly.

This angers Joe, and then he kidnaps Vines, only to find that he also falsifies the Land Survey for his own profit. Lastly, with his team’s help, Joe gets every victim justice by surrendering Vines to the government.
