When is Bob Hearts Abishola Season 6 coming out?
Unfortunately, CBS announced in November 2023 that Bob Hearts Abishola will end with season 5.
Why is the beloved show Bob Hearts Abishola ending?
Creator and producer Chuck Lorre explained that it was not upon the creative team that decided to cancel Bob Hearts Abishola. He felt there were more stories to tell.
“I think there’s so many more stories to tell…I don’t necessarily feel like we were done, but that was not my call.”
It is believed that the budgetary issue and decreasing ratings are the reason for the show’s cancellation. In the ongoing season 5, most of the supporting characters’ roles were reduced, and some departed the show.
Most of the regulars from the previous season were reduced to recurring appearances, with only five episodes fixed. The cause might be budget issues.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, co-creator Gina Yashere shared her concern about the monetary issues. She also said that they work on character-building instead of cowbarring them in one episode.
“The industry is in flux right now. The money that was there ten years ago is not here anymore. We made sure when we worked with the characters, rather than just crowbarring them into an episode; we concentrated the stories by using a character and building a story around them. We make them the centre of the episode. We use everyone properly. It made us, kind of, concentrate more on every character. It was both positive and negative.”
Producer Matt Ross told in an interview with Deadline that the show is wrapping up the ongoing storyline but not entirely for the characters. There would be many more stories to tell, but now it’s not their job–
“You get little windows into these moments. There could be 50 more stories to tell. It’s not our job to say, ‘Bon voyage, they are done learning,’ and they are done being interesting.”
Storyline of Bob Hearts Abishola: What is it able to be about?
Coming from the ‘king of sitcoms’ Chuck Lorre, Bob Hearts Abishola has maintained a proper image since 2019 on CBS. The show stars Billy Gardell and Folake Olowofoyeku as the main characters.
Bob Wheeler, a middle-aged man, is a decent family guy. He lives with his mother Dottie and two twin siblings, Christina and Douglas. Bob works in a compression sock medical supply company in Detroit.
Due to the stress of the job, he had a mild heart attack, which landed him in the Woodward Memorial Hospital. From here enters his hardworking, kind Nigerian nurse, Abishola Adebambo.
Bob immediately falls in love with her. He is now convinced to get her despite their differences. He sets his eyes on her to give him a chance.
What happened at the end of Bob Hearts Abishola Season 5?
Bob Hearts Abishola season 4 ended with a big change as the show’s protagonists are set to move to Baltimore. In the season 4 finale episode, Abishola awaits her acceptance letter from the medical school of her dreams.
Bob on the other hand realises he doesn’t wanna leave his town Detroit and move to Baltimore. Abishola still hasn’t received her acceptance letter from Johnny Hopkins University and falls into deep sorrow.
She felt she was failing in life, failing his family and friends until she talked to her mother. But then she got mad when her failure made Bob happy inside. During the show, Bob’s late father appears many times questioning his certainty.
At the end of the episode, Abishola gets her acceptance letter via email. Now Bob has to go with his wife but he is utterly proud of her wife’s achievements. He promises “Whatever happens we are gonna be fine.”
Season 5 Episode 1 started with Abishola”a high expectation on Dele to study at Harvard. She snoops to check on Dele’s phone. However, he later admits not applying to Harvard but instead to Julliard to pursue dance.
