Pop Smoke, also known as Bashar Barakah Jackson, was a 20-year-old boy who was a famous American rapper. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, USA. He is known for his famous songs like ‘Welcome to the Party and ‘Dior’.
He collaborated with a lot of producers and artists in order to become a successful rapper. His debut song ‘Meet the Woo’ and ‘Meet the Woo 2’ was released around February 7, 2020; he was listed in the top 10 on the Billboard that year.
Twelve days after his debut, he was killed at an Airbnb he was staying in. Police first suspected he was murdered because of his involvement with some gang, but later on, they found out it was a robbery gone wrong.

How Did Pop Smoke Die?
Jackson was renting an Airbnb house owned by the couple Teddi Mellencamp and Edwin Arroyave in California on February 19, 2020. In the morning, around 4:30 am, five men, one with a gun, invaded the house from the second floor.
Amelia Rose, the woman who was with Jackson in that house, was kept hostage at gunpoint, and later, Jackson was shot three times. The robbers took Jackson’s diamond-studded Rolex and other jewellery. The police came in and saw Jackson lying around with three shots in his body.
He was quickly taken to the Cedars Sinai Medical Centre, and doctors operated on him, but unfortunately, they couldn’t save him; he was declared dead. He was just 20 years old when he died.

During the show called Hip Hop Homicides, Amelia Rose shared what happened on that terrifying night with Van Lathan. Amelia Rose was the woman who was with Jackson on that night. They were in their bedroom, and Jackson went upstairs to the washroom and said his last words, “Ok. I’ll come back”, and left.
Amelia recalls this and is seen upset on the show; she was seen crying as well. Later, she shared that a few seconds later, she heard some noise of window sliding, and there were five men with guns in their hands who were looking at her.
She was at the gunpoint. She saw Jackson getting dragged from the bedroom while other members were busy robbing the house. She heard three gunshots, and Jackson was killed. She still is going through that trauma and has trouble sleeping at night.
She still can’t believe the fact that she wasn’t killed that night by those robbers. A few months later, four of them were arrested.
