So the plot goes like this: Aoi Tsubaki is an abandoned kid who has special powers. Her special powers are that she can see spirits called the Ayakashi spirits. These spirits love to munch on human souls. Before you ask how she got her power, we will give you the answer.
Aoiâs powers are hereditary and unfortunately or fortunately she shares them with her grandfather. The grandfather gives her a place to stay and teaches her how to live with the spirits peacefully.
However, what the grandfather doesnât tell her is that he is under the debt of Oodanna the Ogre God who is an Innkeeper in the hidden realm of Ayakashi spirits and he used poor Aoi as collateral! Shortly after Aoiâs grandfather dies Aoiâs all set to live her college life but while doing so she needs to protect herself and other humans from the spirits by using her expert culinary skills.
One day after feeding a mysterious spirit she gets teleported to the hidden realm and that is when it is revealed that the mysterious spirit was Oodanna who had come to collect Aoi and marry her. However, Aoi refuses to marry him and instead opens an eatery at the inn and pays him back the money by feeding the Ayakashi spirits who stay at his inn. So the question is will Aoi be able to pay her debt?
What Happened at the End of Kakuriyo Bed and Breakfast for Spirits Season 1?
Umi Bouzo is finally revealed. He is just a small, lonely and sad child. He reminds Aoi of her past, how she had a lonely childhood, and she soon starts to bond with Umi Bouzo. She introduces Umi Bouso to others as well, and after drinking the Tengu Wine she is offered, Aoi has a vision about Umi Bouzo and his sad life.
It turns out Umi is a prisoner of his miasma and is allowed to be accessible only after every century. She also shares a hug with Umi Bouzo. Ranmaru and Ginji join the feat and Kai and Mei serve quiche. Aoiâs taste finally returns, and Umi Bouzo is super happy in the fun atmosphere; his miasma turns pink instead of a dark shade.
But soon, Umi Bouzo has to leave, and before he goes back to the ocean, Aoi packs him with more food, and Chibi gives him a Rainbow Pearl Clam. The Ayakashi spirits and Aoi finally realize that Umi Bouzo was not the cause of all the havoc in the world.
Instead, he was the one who tried his best to prevent it, and the ceremony that was held every hundred years gave him the strength to do so. The spirits thank Aoi for it. Aoi soon remembers bits of her childhood, and she sees Ginji in her memory.
She confronts Ginji, who says that though he visited her in her childhood, he was not the only one to do so; we all know that it was Oodanna, but Ginji doesnât reveal it. Oodanna knows that Raiju tried to harm Aoi, and he warns Raiju that he will be killed and eaten up by Oodanna if he doesnât stay away from Aoi.
In the end, all of them set off for home, and Aoi thanks Ooadanna for everything he has ever done and promises to repay him for all he has done. The ending of Season 1 was very promising and sweet!
