Quantum Leap Episode Details Review
The eagerly anticipated follow-up to the three-decade-old original series spent a large portion of its opening hour introducing newcomers to the world of “setting right once went wrong” while enthralling viewers with a few quick-paced surprises and several intriguing plot points.
Even if it appears like the innocent, comic moments that gave rise to Sam Beckett’s famous “Oh, boy” are relics of a bygone era, I’m not quite ready to give up on this new Quantum Leap. Ben Song’s “Oh, shit” may be incorrect, but one can only hope.
As a fan of the original, I wish the directing and production quality were superior, but there are aspects of brilliance here. Caitlin Bennett is excellent, and they would do well to have her character flip positions and become the series’ main character, with Mr. Song serving as her hologram. The continuation of Ernie Hudson’s persona is wonderful.
The pilot evoked the early stages of a number of classic series that went on to greatness. Similar to programs ranging from Silk Stalkings to Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, a little patience and studio focus will pay handsomely if it comes to pass.
This will need the hiring of stronger writers and the probable dismissal of all cast members not named Bennett or Hudson. Nevertheless, this pilot has me eager to try the series and looking forward to future episodes.
Quantum Leap Previous Episode Recap:

Ben’s handwriting contains a tremendous amount of computer equipment and computations, as found by Magic and Jenn. Addison and Ian display their flash drive, which, when paired with the hard drive, unlocks a plethora of data that suggests Ben was attempting to reach a specific period in history.
However, it is unknown where, when, or why Ben was trying to do so. Magic and Addison resolve to stop harboring secrets from one another and collaborate to uncover Ben’s goals.
